Who we are

The Sabai Times is a weekly bilingual (English & Burmese) magazine facilitated by the Shwetaungthagathu Reform Initiative Centre (SRIc), a hybrid think tank and consultancy firm. It is dedicated to offering in-depth analysis, commentary, opinion pieces, and columns on sustainability-related topics. The magazine covers a range of subjects, including governance, economic development, and environmental & socio-cultural issues, with a particular focus on sustainability in Myanmar. The Sabai Times aims to highlight current challenges and actively contribute to the ongoing sustainable practices and development discourse. It promotes solutions and fosters discussion around sustainability issues through success stories and expert insights.

Pitches & Submissions

We welcome unsolicited pitches from analysts and commentators who can provide global perspectives on global and Myanmar sustainability-related issues and initiatives. We are also interested in hearing from freelance feature writers based in Myanmar. If you have a story idea or proposal for commentaries, opinion pieces, or feature stories, please submit it via our submission form.

Submission Guidelines

1. Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Your article must reference at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals.

2. Scope:

• For articles in English, please limit your submission to 750-800 words.

• For articles in Burmese, the word count should be between 800-1000 words, and submissions should be in Unicode.

3. Citation Requirements:

• All articles must include citations with hyperlinks to the source material.

• Hyperlinks should be embedded in the nearest noun or verb (e.g., insert the hyperlink into the word “report” or “said” rather than over an entire sentence or multiple words).

4. Image Submission: If you have a relevant photo that complements your article and you hold the copyright for the image, please upload it here. Only submit images for which you own the copyright. Submitting copyrighted material without permission may result in legal consequences. Please ensure that all images comply with legal and copyright regulations to avoid potential legal actions.

5. Original Work: All submissions must be original content and should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.

Shwetaungthagathu Reform Initiative Centre (SRIc) is a hybrid think tank and consultancy firm that advocates for Sustainable Development Policy, Practice & Literacy
A Junior Researcher at SRIc and a public health professional, a medical doctor. With 3 years of experience in working with Remote Health Program Management. And over a year experience in Hospital Management.
Naychi Thel Kyaw Tun is a Program Manager at the Shwetaungthagathu Reform Initiative Centre (SRIc). She is also the Myanmar Country Lead for the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Women Leadership Academy).
Tin Shine Aung is the Consulting Director at Shwetaungthagathu Reform Initiative Centre (SRIc) and a Researcher at ITI. He mentors for the YSEALI 2024 Fellowship Program and is pursuing a PhD in Sustainability Science at the University of Lisbon.
Windia Soe is a public health professional focusing on malaria elimination and social behavioral change in Myanmar. She is a Junior Research Fellow at Shwe Thaung Thagathu, specializing in economic sustainability and community empowerment.
